Irish Premiership: Glenavon 3-2 Warrenpoint Town

James Singleton scored four minutes from time to give Glenavon a dramatic 3-2 league win over Warrenpoint.

Ruairi Devlin slotted in an early opener for the visitors before Gary Hamilton tapped in the equaliser.

Johnny Breen blasted into the bottom corner to restore Warrenpoint's lead and Kevin Braniff's superb free-kick on the hour made it 2-2.

Singleton bundled in from close range for the winner before Town's Mark Hughes was sent-off in injury-time.

Glenavon had lost their previous two Premiership games and they got off to the worst possible start at Mourneview Park.

Daniel Hughes supplied the cross for Devlin to convert at the near-post and Warrenpoint were ahead after just two minutes.

Hamilton netted with ease from an Andy McGrory pass on 17 minutes but the visitors were soon back in front.

A slip from defender Gareth McKeown let in Breen and he powered his shot beyond keeper Alan Blayney and into the net.

Breen should have completed his double but after a mazy run left him with just Blayney to beat, he dragged his shot wide from six yards.

Braniff managed to blaze over from a yard out early in the second half but he made amends with the goal of the game.

From a free-kick 25 yards out, the forward displayed his class by curling the ball around the wall and into the top corner.

Singleton was perfectly placed for the winner, slamming in from inches out after substitute Darren Forsyth nodded the ball back across goal.

Mark Hughes was dismissed for two yellow cards deep into injury time to complete a miserable finale to the game for Warrenpoint.

Glenavon move up to third place and just a point behind leaders Portadown and Linfield while Warrenpoint slip down to 11th.
