Former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes will train with Manchester United as part of his rehabilitation from a knee injury.

Spanish international Valdes, 32, tore his anterior cruciate ligament in March and missed the World Cup in Brazil.

The club confirmed, external Valdes's recovery will now be supervised by United's medical staff.

Valdes is a free agent after turning down the offer of a new contract at the Camp Nou in the summer.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal previously worked with Valdes at Barcelona in 2002-03, although he only became the Catalan club's first-choice goalkeeper under Van Gaal's successor Radomir Antic.
