Luke Joyce netted his third goal of the season

Accrington moved up to ninth in League Two after beating Lancashire rivals Morecambe at Store First Stadium.

The hosts were 2-0 up after 11 minutes - Luke Joyce opening the scoring from the penalty spot after John O'Sullivan had been fouled in the area.

Shay McCartan doubled Stanley's lead with a deflected shot from 15 yards.

Morecambe improved after the break and Paul Mullin headed home Shaun Beeley's 51st-minute corner, but the visitors could not find an equaliser.

There was some bad news for Stanley, however, as on-loan Fulham keeper Jesse Joronen was stretchered off after injuring himself tipping over an Alex Kenyon effort.
