Portsmouth 3-0 Carlisle United

Miles Storey starred as promotion hopefuls Portsmouth cruised past a disappointing Carlisle side.

Craig Westcarr slotted home a Storey assist before Storey doubled the lead himself when he smashed home a delightful delivery from Ricky Holmes.

After the break captain Danny Hollands' left-footed strike sealed the win to move Andy Awford's side to within two points of the play-off places.

The visitors had Hayden White sent off late on to cap a miserable afternoon.

Portsmouth manager Andy Awford told BBC Radio Solent:

"I'm pleased with the performance. It was almost as good as last week but we had the goals to go with it today. Our home form has been very pleasing and if we continue to do that we will be fine.

"We were totally dominate from first whistle to last. We have not had any problems today, it was a dominate performance and I also think determined is another word to use. The whole performance from the team was fantastic today.

"I'm delighted for Craig (Westcarr) because he has worked so hard and not always had the goals to go with his performances and I am delighted that he has hit the back of the net today; hopefully that will give him a bit more confidence moving forward.

"We have to keep playing the same way, we have another home game on Sunday against Aldershot in the FA Cup."
