Wales and Ipswich midfielder Jonny Williams out for a month

Jonny Williams went off with an ankle injury during the second half of Wales against Bosnia-Hercegovina

Wales midfielder Jonny Williams is expected to be out of action for around a month due to a groin injury.

Williams will miss the Euro 2016 qualifier against Belgium on Sunday, 16 November.

The 21-year-old, who is on loan at Ipswich from Crystal Palace, was fouled by Joel Ekstrand during Town's 1-0 win against Watford on Saturday.

"The tackle on Jonny was an awful challenge and it could have been a red," said Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy.

Williams pulled out of Chris Coleman's Wales squad for the game in Brussels against the 2014 World Cup quarter-finalists.

Ipswich Town's physio Matt Byard added: "Jonny has had a couple of scans and seen a specialist and it looks as though he will be out for about a month."

Williams started for Wales against Bosnia-Hercegovina in October, but went off with an ankle injury during the second half and missed the game against Cyprus.

Wales are also without suspended Leicester midfielder Andy King, Reading striker Simon Church (damaged collarbone) and Wolves midfielder Dave Edwards (knee ligament damage).

Coleman's side top Group B going into the match following two wins and a draw in their opening three qualifiers.

"We know that this game away to Belgium is a big one and one that we know that we must perform to the best of our ability," Wales coach Osian Roberts said.

"To have everybody available is key to that."
