Glentoran's Jay Magee celebrates scoring against Institute

Glentoran returned to the top half of the Premiership thanks to a narrow home success over Institute.

Defender Jay Magee headed the Glens into a 24th-minute lead, meeting Niall Henderson's corner at the back post.

David Scullion could have put Eddie Patterson's side 2-0 up before the break he but lobbed over the bar.

Steven Gordon did get Glentoran's second, created by Curtis Allen, in the 84th minute while Robbie Hume netted for Institute in the 89th minute.

Early in the game Institute had a couple of good efforts and went close when Ben Doherty's shot crashed off the post.

In the second half the visitors could have equalised when Hume pounced on a weak back pass by Johnny Addis, but the shot was deflected behind by the legs of Glens keeper Elliott Morris.

The victory sees Glentoran jump over Coleraine and into sixth place in the Premiership standings.
