Stephen O'Flynn likely to leave Institute in transfer window

Stephen O'Flynn has been in prolific form for Premiership new boys Institute

Institute manager Paul Kee admits he is likely to lose striker Stephen O'Flynn in the January transfer window.

The 32-year-old is understood to be attracting the interest of a number of Irish League clubs, including Belfast rivals Linfield and Glentoran.

After Saturday's 2-1 defeat by the Glens at the Oval, Kee revealed that Blues manager Warren Feeney had made contact with him regarding the forward.

O'Flynn missed the trip to the Oval after picking up an injury in training.

The prolific frontman, who is currently on an amateur contract, has played for a number of clubs in the Republic of Ireland, including Cork City, St Patrick's Athletic, Galway United, Derry City and Limerick.

He also had a spell with English club Northampton Town.

"There is a good chance Stephen will go because he's an amateur, As an amateur club the players are playing for expenses. That's the position we are in at the moment" confirmed Kee.

"He has been a key player for us, there's no question about that, but I think he has made up his mind to go.

"He hasn't been at his best over the last few matches."

O'Flynn signed for Institute in the close season despite also receiving overtures from the club's Premiership rivals Coleraine.
