Tottenham defender Ben Davies admits it was a weird feeling being an away player at the Liberty Stadium in Sunday's 2-1 win against Swansea City.

The Wales full-back, joined Spurs in the summer after coming through the ranks at the Welsh club, making 85 appearances between 2012 and 2014.

On his first return, Davies made a goal-saving challenge to help Spurs win.

"It was a strange feeling being in the away dressing room," Davies said.

"One I'm not quite sure I was used to but at the end of the day we had a job to do and we were very happy with the three points.

"It was quite an emotional feeling [walking on to the pitch] with all the Swans fans being as good as they were to me and it's one that I really, really appreciated.

"It was very strange but it was a good feeling in the end."

Tottenham took an early lead through Harry Kane before Davies denied Wilfried Bony the chance to equalise with a stunning last-ditch tackle.

"It was a big moment in the game really, he was through one-on-one and it's kind of a 50-50 tackle," Davies said.

"If I make it brilliant, if I don't I probably get sent off, so it was a big moment and luckily I got the ball."

Just after half-time Bony brought the hosts level with a stabbed shot, only for Christian Eriksen to strike a late winner.

"I probably had a moment of joy," Davies said. "But you have to pull it back in against your old club.

"Especially a club that was as good and as close to me as this and I needed to show the respect back to the [Swansea] fans that they showed me."

The victory lifts Mauricio Pochettino's side to seventh in the Premier League, two points above Swansea who drop to ninth.

Spurs next face Newcastle at home in the League Cup quarter-final on Wednesday before facing Burnley at White Hart Lane in the league on Saturday.
