Wrexham and Southport want their Conference game on New Year's Day postponed to allow them to prepare for FA Cup third round ties.
Kevin Wilkin's side are scheduled to host Southport on Thursday, 1 January.
Southport are away to Championship side Derby County on Saturday, 3 January, with Wrexham travelling to Stoke City a day later.
The Football Conference are due to consider the request during a board meeting on Monday.
"Both clubs would ideally prefer the game to be called off so we can prepare for massive games," Wilkin said.
"The Conference will decide whether that can or can't be the case."
Wrexham will travel to Southport in the Conference on Boxing Day, returning to a ground where they drew 1-1 in the FA Trophy first round on Saturday.
The sides replay at the Racecourse on Tuesday with the winners away to Conference North side Stockport County in the second round on 10 January 2015.
