Shrewsbury Town have extended the loan spell of winger Bobby Grant from Blackpool until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old ex-Accrington trainee has scored once in 15 appearances since joining Micky Mellon's side in October.

"The manager, chairman and [chief executive] Matt Williams told me that there were other clubs interested and Blackpool wanted a fee for a permanent deal," Grant told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"But I'm really happy to be back down here with the lads."

He continued: "People were saying you can go there permanent or here permanent, it doesn't really bother me.

"I've been happier since I've come here. There's a great team spirit and a great dressing room, it's very rare you find that in any football club."

Grant's initial loan deal expired at the weekend and he returned to the Championship side before the extension for him to stay at the Greenhous Meadow was agreed.

"It had been frustrating for myself the last few days, I had to go to Blackpool for training and no disrespect to them but I didn't really enjoy it," added Grant.

"When I got the call from Matt to sign the papers was the only time I got the smile back on my face. I couldn't get down here quick enough."
