Championship side Wigan Athletic have turned down a bid in the region of £4m from West Bromwich Albion for winger Callum McManaman.

The 23-year-old is the Latics' joint top-scorer this season with five goals in his 22 appearances.

The former Everton trainee is contracted to the club until 2017.

"It would take an awful lot of money for Callum to leave Wigan - that would be a board decision," said manager Malky Mackay.

Former Stoke and Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis took over at West Brom at the start of the year and is still looking to make his first signing.

Huyton-born McManaman joined Wigan in 2007 after being released by Everton and had a loan spell at Blackpool before his first-team breakthrough at the DW Stadium.

He was named man of the match when the Latics beat Manchester City in the 2013 FA Cup final.
