Graham Dorrans: Norwich loan signing aims for promotion

Dorrans has scored 26 goals in 179 appearances for West Brom

Graham Dorrans intends to help Norwich City secure an immediate return to the Premier League after arriving on loan from West Bromwich Albion.

The 27-year-old Scotland midfielder has dropped to the Championship to join the Canaries on an initial one-month deal.

"They've been on a good run and it suggests they can push on and get back up," he told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"Everybody wants to play in the Premier League. I came here with the view of getting back to the Premier League."

He continued: "Hopefully we can do that.

"Speaking to Alex Neil on the phone, you could see the desire and passion he has got as a manager. That was another thing which helped me to come down here."

Norwich are currently sixth in the Championship table, but just seven points behind league leaders Middlesbrough.

Dorrans, who moved to West Brom in 2008, was a regular under former boss Alan Irvine this season, but has only featured three times for the Baggies since Tony Pulis took charge in January.

The former Livingston player was in discussions about a switch to Carrow Road during the January transfer window, but the move broke down on deadline day.

"I found myself out of favour under the new manager, which happens in football," he said.

"I did come down and it was a bit frustrating. It was a long day for it to not go through.

"I don't know the ins and outs of why it broke down so I went back into training and kept myself fit.

"I'm glad it's sorted now and I can concentrate on the next few months here."

Neil, who has won five of his seven games since his appointment as Norwich boss, said Dorrans' arrival will boost his attacking options.

"Graham is a versatile player who has got good pedigree," he added.

"With the way I want to the team to play, it is really important we have a lot of options and guys who are slightly different from each other.

"Technically, he is very good and he is the type that can open a team up. He has also got goals in him, from his last time in the Championship."
