Grimsby will face Bristol Rovers in the Conference promotion final at Wembley after comfortably beating Eastleigh.

Eastleigh created the better of the early chances, but Ollie Palmer's sharp turn and shot extended Grimsby's 2-1 aggregate lead from the first leg.

Having set up the opener, Lenell John-Lewis then added a second with a cool right-footed finish before the break.

Eastleigh pushed forward but struggled to create chances, before Palmer slotted home a third to seal the win.

The result means Grimsby kept alive their hopes of returning to the Football League for the first time since their relegation from League Two in 2010.

Despite their play-off exit, Eastleigh can take pride from a successful debut season in non-league football's top tier.

Earlier in the day, Bristol Rovers eased into the promotion final with a 3-0 aggregate victory over Forest Green.

Grimsby Town manager Paul Hurst told BBC Radio Humberside:

"A good day for the club. We know there's one more, absolutely massive game in front of us, which we know is going to be difficult

"For the time being we'll enjoy this moment, and there's some planning for me to do.

"We've already got a skeleton plan in place but a few days rest and then really start the focus on that game."
