Alan Lithgow scored East Fife's equaliser

Alan Lithgow's third goal of the season earned Stenhousemuir what could be a vital Scottish League One semi-final first-leg draw with East Fife.

The Warriors got off to the worst possible start as Ross Brown drilled a right-footed effort home only three minutes into the game.

Goalkeeper Greg Fleming produced fine saves from Fraser Mullan and Nathan Austin to keep Stenny in the game.

And Lithgow got on the end of Paul McMullan's centre to head home.

It ended a run of five straight home wins for Gary Naysmith's Fifers, although they remain unbeaten at Bayview Stadium in eight matches.

Saturday's 3-1 win over Elgin City ensured that they finished fourth in League Two ahead of Annan Athletic, but Stenhousemuir were able to deny them a third straight victory.

However, the side led by caretaker manager Brown Ferguson and who finished second bottom in League One will have to end a run of nine outings without a victory if they are to reach the final.
