Simon Murray bagged a brace as 10-man Arbroath came from two goals down to earn a draw with Queen's Park in their League One semi-final first leg.

Bryan Wharton climbed highest to head home Sean Burns' corner before Kieran McWalter was dismissed for a two-footed challenge on Burns.

Burns' cross was then turned home at the far post by Shaun Fraser.

But Murray rifled home from close range after the break and fired the equaliser after a mazy run by Bobby Linn.

Gus MacPherson's Queen's Park have now only recorded one win in their last eight outings despite finishing second in League Two.

However, the draw at least ended the Spiders' run of 10 consecutive defeats in the play-offs and extended their unbeaten run at Gayfield to four games.

Arbroath had gone into the match seemingly revitalised after they hammered Berwick Rangers 5-0 in their first match under Todd Lumsden following the sacking of Allan Moore.

Their title challenge had faltered after seven games without a victory and only one win in 18, but that victory ensured a third-place finish for Lumsden's side.
