Michael Raynes: Carlisle United sign ex-Mansfield Town defender

Michael Raynes made 82 appearances for Oxford United before joining Mansfield Town in January

Carlisle United have signed centre-back Michael Raynes following his release by League Two rivals Mansfield.

The 27-year-old made 10 appearances for the Stags, having signed on a free transfer from Oxford United in January.

Raynes, who has previously had spells with Stockport County, Rotherham and Scunthorpe, has agreed a one-year deal with the Cumbrians.

"He's a big, solid central defender who knows the level and the game," Carlisle boss Keith Curle told the club website.
