Mauro Icardi scored twice in Inter Milan's final game of the season to draw level with 38-year-old Luca Toni and share the Serie A golden boot.

Hellas Verona striker Toni scored his 22nd league goal in the 2-2 home draw with champions Juventus on Saturday.

The former Bayern Munich player was on course to finish as top scorer for a second time, nine years on from his 31 goals in Fiorentina's 2005-06 season.

But Argentine striker Icardi, 22, hit a double as Inter beat Empoli on Sunday.

Inter Milan's 4-3 home win means they finish eighth in the table, while Verona's draw with Juve ensures they end the season one place above city rivals Chievo Verona in 13th.

Toni may have been denied sole ownership of the ultimate prize by a rival 16 years his junior, but all things considered we think you'd agree - it has been a good year for him.

Former Real Madrid striker Raul is still playing, over in the North American Soccer League - the division below Major League Soccer. Now 37, the Spaniard may not be as prolific as he once was (over 300 goals for Real anyone?) but at least he's still scoring.

His three goals for New York Cosmos have helped lift the club to the top of this season's Spring Championship, with nine matches played.

Teddy Sheringham was still going strong (strong-ish) into his forties. The striker relied on guile and a silky touch rather than pace throughout a prolific career, and so hung on to his key weapons longer than most.

The former Tottenham and Manchester United striker became the oldest goalscorer in Premier League history with West Ham on Boxing Day 2006 at the tender age of 40 years, 268 days.
