Carl Magnay: Hartlepool United sign Grimsby Town defender

Carl Magnay was named as Grimsby Town's Supporters' Player of the Year for the 2014-15 season

Hartlepool United have signed versatile Grimsby Town defender Carl Magnay.

The 26-year-old made 45 appearances since joining the Mariners on a one-year deal in July.

He had spells with Leeds and Chelsea as a youngster before loan spells at MK Dons and Northampton and an eventual move to Gateshead.

Hartlepool finished 22nd in League Two, four points above the relegation zone, while Grimsby lost in the Conference play-off final to Bristol Rovers.

The length of Magnay's deal with Pools has not been disclosed.
