Promoted Shrewsbury Town have signed Abu Ogogo from Dagenham & Redbridge.

The former Arsenal trainee, 25, has signed a two-year contract to become Town's second signing of the summer ahead of their return to League One.

"I was at Dagenham for six years and thought it was time in my career that I moved on," said Ogogo.

"It will be the first time I've moved away from home. There were a few clubs involved but I wanted to take my time and be sure I made the right decision."

Ogogo, who can play at right-back or in midfield, scored 18 times in 253 appearances for the Daggers, captaining them to 14th in League Two, but he had turned down the offer of a new deal.

He supplements the signing of midfielder Martin Woods, who became Shrewsbury's first new addition of the summer when he arrived from Ross County, also on a two-year deal.
