Chris Coleman 'deserves credit' for Wales rise, says Joe Ledley

Manager Chris Coleman deserves credit for Wales' resurgence, says midfielder Joe Ledley.

Wales are currently second in their Euro 2016 qualifying group, and could overtake Belgium when they face the leaders in Cardiff on Friday.

Coleman's side also recently rose to their highest-ever FIFA world ranking of 21st in May.

"We've got to give him [Coleman] credit for that. Without him, I don't think we'd be where we are now," said Ledley.

Appointed in 2012 following the death of predecessor Gary Speed, Coleman had a difficult start to his Wales tenure.

He lost his first four matches in charge, but has overseen a significant improvement since then.

Wales are unbeaten in their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign and are only behind Group B leaders on goal difference.

"The way he [Coleman] had to take over, the circumstances were awful," added Ledley.

"But after time, we believed in the gaffer and the performances and the results have come.

"That's why we're ranked where we are in the world, and it's the highest we've been."
