Kidderminster Harriers: Board must be transparent, says Whild

Kidderminster Harriers boss Gary Whild says it is vital the board continues to be honest with supporters over the running of the Aggborough club.

Harriers finished 16th in the Conference last term, their worst since 1998, amid serious financial issues that meant players were not fully paid.

Despite seeing his budget halved for the new season, Whild remains upbeat.

"There's an honesty and transparency there, as well as trust, and that's massive moving forward," he said.

Despite a positive start to last season when the club were on the fringes of the play-off places, the financial situation did not ease, despite the sale of several of their best players.

Help was finally sought from the club's Independent Supporters' Trust (KHIST) and a restructuring of the board in April saw Ken Rae resign as chairman with Rod Brown replacing him.

"If you look around the place, there's an air of positivity - albeit with the financial restraints - it's a lot better in terms of coming into work," "Whild told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"The transparency is always an important thing for supporters and the new regime understand that and there's a lot of positivity.

"We've got to get our heads around the fact that last season has gone - we're trying to move forward."
