Port Vale have signed released former Crewe Alexandra midfielder Anthony Grant and defender Ben Purkiss, following his exit at Walsall.

Grant, 28, who played 91 times for Crewe before being freed at Gresty Road, has now signed a two-year deal with their neighbours at Vale Park.

Purkiss, 31, has also agreed a two-year deal with The Valiants after being let go by the Saddlers at the start of May.

"Ben has played to a high level in this league," said Vale boss Rob Page.

"Anthony will be a great addition to our squad. He has performed very well for Crewe over the last couple of years."
