Hamilton Academical secure Dumbarton's Chris Turner

Turner joined Dumbarton from Shamrock Rovers

Hamilton Academical have signed midfielder Chris Turner from Dumbarton.

Turner was out of contract with the Sons after spending the past three years with the Scottish Championship club.

The 28-year-old, who is a former Northern Ireland Under-21 cap, made 91 appearances and scored nine goals during his time at Dumbarton.

He becomes Hamilton's second new signing this summer after the arrival of goalkeeper Alan Martin from Clyde.

Turner previously played for Irish clubs Sligo Rovers, Bohemians, Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers as well as having a short spell at Partick Thistle in 2008.
