Chester have signed former Burton defender Ian Sharps on a one-year deal.

In May, AFC Telford announced that the 34-year-old had agreed to sign for them after spending the back end of last season on loan with the Bucks.

However, the former Rotherham, Shrewsbury and Tranmere centre-back has now opted to move to Chester.

"There had been word that he'd signed with Telford, but that wasn't the case," Chester manager Steve Burr told the club website., external

"I got in touch with him during the summer and when we sat down, had a chat and I'm delighted that he's chosen to sign for us."

Sharps is the fifth arrival at Chester this summer ahead of the new National League season.
