AC Milan sign Luiz Adriano and agree Carlos Bacca deal

Luiz Adriano leaves Shakhtar as their all-time leading scorer

AC Milan have signed Brazilian striker Luiz Adriano from Shakhtar Donetsk on the same day they agreed a deal for Sevilla's Carlos Bacca.

Bacca, 28, must pass a medical after his £21m buyout clause was activated.

In a separate deal, French defender Adil Rami, 29, will leave Milan to join Sevilla for an undisclosed fee.

Adriano, 28, joins for £5.7m and leaves Shakhtar as the club's all-time leading goalscorer with 129 goals including nine in last season's Champions League.

Only Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar managed more in Europe's elite competition last year with 10 each.

Adriano, who has four caps for his country, has signed with Sinisa Mihajlovic's side until 2020 and his acquisition continues a summer of spending at the San Siro with Italian midfielder Andrea Bertolacci, external already signed from Roma for 20m euros (£14m).

The Rossoneri finished 10th in Serie A last season and relied on Jeremy Menez for goals as he scored 16 in the league.

Bacca, who had been linked with a number of Premier League clubs,, external scored 49 in 108 games for Sevilla, including 28 in all competitions last season.

He was sent off during Colombia's Copa America win over Brazil in June, missing their quarter-final defeat against Argentina.

If Bacca passes his medical he will join Adriano as one of several options to occupy forward roles for Milan, who also have Stephan El Shaarawy, Alessandro Matri, Alessio Cerci and M'Baye Niang to choose from.
