Crewe Alexandra: David Fox agrees 12-month contract

Fox made 76 appearances for Norwich in all competitions and scored one goal

Crewe Alexandra have signed former Norwich midfielder David Fox on a one-year deal.

The former Manchester United trainee, 31, left Colchester last month and becomes the Alex boss Steve Davis's third signing of the summer.

"Foxy's been brilliant - he's got a great attitude and he brings great experience to a young team," Davis told BBC Radio Stoke.

The transfer will be finalised once Fox passes a medical.

Fox spent just over three seasons at Norwich and played for them during their two years in the Premier League having won promotion to the top flight in 2011.

He had seven games on loan with Barnsley, joining in September 2013, before moving to Colchester last season where he made 33 appearances and scored twice.

Davis was hoping to also sign 21-year-old former Everton midfielder John Lundstram but a deal could not be agreed.

The England Under-20 international is a free agent after his contract at Goodison Park expired this summer.

"At the last minute, we haven't been able to do it," Davis said.

"I saw it as an investment for us - he's the sort of player we should welcome here - but all parties haven't agreed, it's frustrating."
