Jersey's top two sides will play one another on the opening weekend of the Jersey Football Combination season.

Reigning island champions St Paul's will host Jersey Scottish at Clos des Pauvres in the first round of fixtures on Saturday, 22 August.

St Paul's will have already had a tough start as they face last season's third-placed side Jersey Wanderers 48 hours' earlier at the Hockey Club.

The fixtures represent the first games in the new-look Jersey football league.

All 16 clubs will play each other once before the league splits, with the top eight sides making up the Premiership and the bottom eight the Championship.

Last season's bottom side in the Championship, Sporting Academics, face St Lawrence, who were second-from-bottom, on Thursday, 20 August.

Wanderers will host Trinity in another exciting clash at the Hockey Club on 22 August, while St Brelade travel across the island to play Grouville.

Portuguese, who were second in the Championship last season, face Premiership bottom side St Clement at the IJB Field, while Beeches take on Rozel Rovers and St Ouen entertain First Tower.
