Newport County have had bids from Championship clubs for their Wales youth internationals Regan Poole and Aaron Collins.

Hull City have offered the League Two club in the region of £60,000, plus add-ons, for defender Poole, 17.

Striker Collins, 18, is wanted by another Championship side, Burnley who have bid £40,000 plus add-ons .

Both approaches are expected to be turned down as they are below Newport's valuation for the two players.

County are bottom of League Two with one point from five games after Saturday's 1-0 loss at Plymouth Argyle, when Poole and Collins started on the bench.

New County boss Terry Butcher signed 12 players in the summer after having just five first-team professionals on their staff.

The club reduced its playing budget to £850,000 from £1.4m last year and is also in the middle of a takeover by their Supporters Trust.

Newport were financed by Euromillions Lottery winner Les Scadding until he handed over his shares to the Trust in July.

The Supporters Trust took over the running of the club on 10 August, but hope a share launch will raise the £225,000 needed for the body to take over full ownership.

Poole is still yet to sign a professional contract at Rodney Parade despite the centre-half having trials at Premier League giants Manchester United and Liverpool.

Collins, a Wales Under-19 international, has signed professional terms despite initially not being offered a scholarship at County in 2014.

The transfer window closes at 18:00 BST on Tuesday, 1 September, and funds from selling players would help towards achieving the Trust's financial takeover target.

However, the offers will need to be considerably higher if they are to tempt cash-strapped Newport to part with their highly-rated teenagers.
