Ballinamallard 1-3 Carrick Rangers

Carrick Rangers moved up to eighth in the table by beating Ballinamallard United despite having skipper Aaron Harmon sent-off in the 63rd minute.

Kyle Cherry scored after a goalmouth scramble in the 31st minute, then Miguel Chines slotted home on 40 after intercepting an Emmett Friars backpass.

Mark Surgenor fired in with his left-foot from a Chines free-kick after 74.

Jason McCartney grabbed a consolation with a penalty after Surgenor brought down Johnny Lafferty on 80 minutes.

Gary Browne squandered an early chance for Gary Haveron's side when he was clean through on goal but his shot was well saved by Alvin Rouse.

Rouse was at fault for the opening goal however as he failed to hold the ball and Cherry was on hand to turn the ball home.

Chines extended Carrick's lead, but after the break Browne was guilty of squandering a wonderful opportunity, shooting wide with the goal gaping.

Following Harmon's dismissal for aggressive use of the head, McCartney pulled one back from the spot for the Mallards, who lie 11th in the table.
