Braintree Town 1-0 Dover Athletic

Braintree moved up to sixth place in the National League table with a clinical win that ended high-flying Dover Athletic's five-game winning run.

The hosts edged the midfield battle in a hard-fought tussle and deservedly went ahead just before the break.

Michael Cheek proved the matchwinner, pouncing on a rebound after Simeon Akinola's shot was saved.

Cheek and Dover's Toby Ajala had half-chances after the interval, but the visitors could not find an equaliser.

Dover remain third but missed the chance to close the gap on leaders Forest Green Rovers, who lost to Eastleigh.
