Kidderminster Harriers: Colin Gordon does not want coach's job

Kidderminster Harriers caretaker boss Colin Gordon has ruled himself out of taking the coach's job at Aggborough.

Football agent Gordon, 52, has spent four games in charge since the dismissal of Gary Whild on 21 September, during which he has overseen two draws and two narrow defeats.

But he insists that he will withdraw from the dug-out following the Harriers' next two away matches.

"The best use of my ability is to use my experience and contacts," he said.

"I don't want to be in the technical area. My role on the football side will be making sure we prepare and develop good talent. We don't have the budgets. We simply have to produce our own in the future."

Gordon arrived at the club in April to join the board in a newly-created role of football development director. He has been picking the team since Tim Flowers and Gary Whild left following the 2-0 defeat by Lincoln City - and he has already made four signings in his short time in charge,

As well as former Motherwell midfielder Zaine Francis-Angol, he has added three strikers ahead of Saturday's game at Macclesfield.

On top of the arrival of former West Bromwich Albion youth forward George Cater, two more young strikers have now joined, Jordan Murphy, on loan from League One high fliers Walsall, and former Hartlepool striker Callum Hassan.

Murphy, 19, will be familiar with Aggborough, having spent time on loan last season with Worcester City, who share the ground with Harriers.

Gordon has said that he will take the team to Macclesfield and may still be in charge at Altrincham next Tuesday night, although he expects the board to have made an appointment as coach by then.
