Defender Steph Houghton is one of three Manchester City players shortlisted for the Football Association's Women's Player of the Year award.

Houghton, fellow defender Lucy Bronze, goalkeeper Karen Bardsley and Liverpool's Fara Williams have been nominated by England's management team.

The quartet were all part of England's World Cup bronze-medal success.

Sunderland's Beth Mead, given her first England call-up on Tuesday, is up for the Young Player of the Year accolade.

Notts County defender Alex Greenwood and Chelsea's double-winning pair of Fran Kirby and Jodie Brett are also in the running alongside Mead.

Both awards, as well as the FA Women's Super League Goal of the Season, will be decided by fan votes., external

Manchester City striker Toni Dugan has two strikes among the eight shortlisted, while Ellen White's theatrically-worked free-kick for Notts County against Arsenal is also included.

The winners will be announced at The FA Women's Awards at Wembley Stadium on Friday, 4 December.
