How about this for an incentive? A £1m bonus will be paid if any horse should win three of jump racing's biggest races this season.

The Jockey Club is offering the incentive for the treble of Haydock's Betfair Chase, the King George VI Chase at Kempton and the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Officials from the organisation, which runs all three courses, say the prize is a tribute to the steeplechaser Kauto Star who died earlier this year.

Kauto Star achieved the hat-trick, earning a similar payout which applied in the 2006-07 season.
