Wales women suffered another setback in their hopes of qualifying for Euro 2017 with a comprehensive defeat by Norway in Aalesund.

The home side took a deserved lead through Isabell Herlovsen, who finished from close range after goalkeeper Alice Evans spilled a long-distance shot.

Norway made it 2-0 with a fine close-range header from Ada Hegerberg.

Herlovsen got her second with a well taken volley and, in injury time, captain Maren Mjelde claimed a fourth.

It means Wales have lost their opening two games in their bid to qualify for the finals in the Netherlands after an opening 3-0 defeat by Austria.

Norway have overtaken Austria at the top of Group 8 while Wales remain bottom.

Wales manager Jayne Ludlow told BBC Radio Wales:

"We're not focusing on the result. We've come here against a really good team who are one of the top teams in the game, and we've competed.

"I'm actually happy. It sounds a bit strange but the performance the girls put in was not reflected in the scoreline."
