Callum Kennedy's first goal for Wimbledon helped his side secure a comfortable victory over Hartlepool.

Kennedy's free-kick eluded everyone in the box to give the home side the lead.

Shortly after, the Dons scored again through Lyle Taylor's well-directed half-volley.

The visitors rarely threatened and conceded a penalty midway through the second half after Kudus Oyenuga brought down Taylor, but his resulting spot-kick crashed off the post.

AFC Wimbledon manager Neal Ardley told BBC Radio London:

"I thought there was a big gulf between the teams on the day - I thought we were value for a lot more.

"We've been saying that somebody's going to get a spanking from us at some point and today probably should have been that day.

"Typical us, we make things a little bit difficult for ourselves. A penalty miss, a couple of one-on-one chances, a header disallowed."
