Kemar Roofe scored a late winner as Oxford United moved two points behind League Two leaders Plymouth with victory over Dagenham and Redbridge.

Midfielder Roofe, reportedly being monitored by Newcastle, , externalscored a stunning 25-yard free-kick for his 11th goal of the season.

Daggers went close through captain Joss Labadie, whose half-volley from the edge of the box was palmed over.

Oxford remain second in the table behind Plymouth, who lost to Exeter.

"Great performance, that type of performance will get us out of the situation we're in there's no doubt about that.

"Very very pleased with the performance, obviously the result is disappointing.

"We've had opportunities to score today there's no doubt about that, and maybe if we'd have got one, the way we were playing we might have gone on and won the game but we didn't take our chances."
