Peterborough manager Graham Westley believes midfielder Jermaine Anderson has the potential to follow in the footsteps of England's Dele Alli.

Alli and Anderson played together at England Under-18s level and the Tottenham man scored for the senior team against France on Tuesday.

Anderson, 19, has four goals in 15 games for League One Posh this term.

"There's no reason why Jermaine can't progress like Dele Alli," Westley told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

"He's a fantastic athlete and a fantastic learner. He's a terrific lad, a very, very talented footballer technically, he's now adding some goals to his games."

Alli, 19, has impressed since his Spurs debut in August, having joined from MK Dons, and has scored twice in 11 Premier League matches this season and made four appearances for the national team.

"Dele has done what he's done and shown he's got international calibre and made massive strides very, very quickly," Westley added.

"I think we've got players in this camp who can make similar sort of progress. You look at Jermaine, the kid's got three goals in three games and he's looking better and better game after game.

"He's working on all the things he needs to work on to be the very best he can be."
