Derby County: Paul Clement praises hall of fame coach Peacock

Derby County boss Paul Clement says Rams first-team coach John Peacock has played an influential part in helping him establish himself in management.

Ex-Real Madrid assistant Clement, who took over at Derby in June, was named as the Football Association's Senior First Team Coach of the Year on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Peacock was inducted into the FA's coaching Hall of Fame.

"He is a calming influence on me and is really helping me in my first role," Clement, 43, told BBC Radio Derby.

"I've got fantastic staff and John is very important to me."

Peacock, who worked as Derby's academy director for four years from 1998, returned to the Rams after leaving his job as England Under-17 boss in June.

Clement's Rams side sit third in the Championship after 19 games, having lost just twice.

The former Chelsea and Paris St-Germain assistant, who won domestic titles working under Carlo Ancelotti at both clubs before joining the Italian at the Real where they enjoyed Champions League success, said he was "honoured" to be recognised at the FA coaching awards at St George's Park.

"I still see myself as a relatively young coach with a lot to do still," he said.

"But I'm very pleased that I've received this award."
