Ashley Williams and Riyad Mahrez: FA takes no action

The Football Association has opted not to take any action following Saturday's tunnel clash between Swansea's Ashley Williams and Leicester's Riyad Mahrez.

Swans skipper Williams and Mahrez had to be separated outside Swansea's dressing room after the Foxes' 3-0 win.

Williams, 31, then attempted to follow Mahrez, 24, on to Leicester's team bus.

A spokesman said the FA "received detailed observations" from both clubs and were "happy that there is nothing further to look into".

The players came together during the first half of the Premier League match at the Liberty Stadium, when Williams attempted to wrestle the ball from Mahrez to take a free-kick.

Referee Michael Oliver spoke to both men, but did not show either a yellow card.

Mahrez had already scored twice - and completed his hat-trick in the second half as Leicester moved two points clear at the top of the table.

After the players clashed again following the final whistle, Williams brushed past reporters in search of the Leicester bus, but soon re-entered the stadium.

The match was Garry Monk's last as Swansea manager, after his departure was confirmed on Wednesday after a run of only one win in 11 league games.

Monk's backroom team of assistant Pep Clotet and coaches James Beattie and Kris O'Leary left the club on Thursday.
