Lionel Messi is set to play for already-qualified Barcelona in their final Group E match at Bayer Leverkusen as he looks to build up match fitness.

The Argentina captain, 28, has played four games since returning from a two-month lay-off with a knee injury.

But fellow forward Neymar suffered a "slight" groin injury in training on Tuesday and is unlikely to feature.

Barcelona did not say how long the Brazil international will be sidelined for.

Right-back Dani Alves is suspended, while Luis Enrique's side are also without Jeremy Mathieu, Sergi Roberto, Douglas and Rafinha through injury.

For Leverkusen, captain Lars Bender faces a race to be fit after an ankle injury.

The German side need to beat Barca and hope Roma do not win at home against BATE Borisov to take second spot.

"We'll need to take all of the few chances which come our way against Barcelona," said Leverkusen defender Omer Toprak.

Defending champions Barca are looking to end the group stage undefeated for the first time since the 2011-12 campaign.
