Swansea City 'progressing' under Alan Curtis, says Lukasz Fabianski

Swansea City are improving under caretaker manager Alan Curtis, says goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.

A late Wayne Rooney goal denied the Swans a point at Old Trafford on Saturday after Gylfi Sigurdsson had equalised Anthony Martial's opener.

Curtis has taken five points from his five games in charge, leaving Swansea two points above the relegation zone.

"Even though we lost, you can see the team is progressing and going in the right direction," said Fabianski.

"Hopefully we'll be able to prove it with good results in the coming games."

Curtis' other defeat in interim charge was by the same scoreline away at Manchester City in the immediate aftermath of Garry Monk's sacking in early December.

Swansea ended a run of more than two months without a win by beating West Brom at home on Boxing Day, and have secured goalless draws with Crystal Palace and West Ham - who are both inside the top seven in the Premier League table.

"When you look at the recent games, we can all be encouraged by the way we've played. We're creating chances," added 30-year-old Fabianski, who headed inches wide from a corner in the dying seconds.

"We are able to come to places like Old Trafford and be a team that puts Man Utd under pressure. That shows you there is something positive happening."

Swansea's search for a new manager is now approaching its fourth week, with little sign of an imminent appointment.

Curtis gave little away in his post-match interview at Old Trafford, admitting he could be in charge for the next two games.

The next fixture is a third-round FA Cup tie at League Two side Oxford United, with two home league games to follow against relegation-threatened Sunderland and mid-table Watford.

Full-back Angel Rangel added: "We are not in the relegation zone but we know the next two home games in the league are going to be vital for us."
