Accrington Stanley have signed defender Mark Hughes for the rest of the season following his release by Stevenage.

The 29-year-old had made 22 appearances for Teddy Sheringham's Boro this season before leaving the club on Wednesday.

The former Everton trainee had a loan spell at Stanley in 2013 and has also played for Northampton, Walsall, Bury and Morecambe.

Hughes, who also had a stint at Australian side Northern Fury, is free to face Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
