Jimmy Spencer has only started one match for Notts County this season

Striker Jimmy Spencer has left Notts County after having his contract cancelled by mutual consent.

The 24-year-old has made just one start from a total of 10 appearances this season following the arrivals of Jon Stead and Izale McLeod.

Spencer joined in February 2014 and scored five goals in 13 games, but he suffered a knee ligament injury in July 2014 and was out for eight months.

Head of recruitment Guy Branston said it was the best move for both parties.

He added: "Jimmy's aware there are clubs chasing his signature so he won't be without a club for too long. He's been a great pro throughout a lengthy spell on the sidelines."
