Kidderminster Harriers have signed striker Evan Garnett from Evo-stik Southern Division side Belper Town.

The 21-year-old has signed a deal with the National League's bottom club until the end of the season.

Garnett began his career with Burton Albion, spending two and a half years on their books before joining Worksop.

He has also played for Ilkeston and Hucknall before linking up for a second spell with Belper, for whom he has scored 19 goals this season.

"Leaving Burton was hard to take," said Garnett. "Long term, it has helped me. I've gone from having nothing to signing here.

"It's a big jump from where I have been playing but the standard is a really good level. I can't believe where we are in the league."

Garnett is expected to make his debut at Aldershot on Saturday, in only the Harriers' second match of 2016.

After two successive postponements, Harriers returned to action on 23 January with a 1-0 home defeat by Guiseley back under the control of chief executive Colin Gordon.

Harriers, 15 points adrift of safety, have now made three signings in the January window. As well as the return of former Wolves defender Keith Lowe to Aggborough, they also re-signed young midfielder Luke Maxwell on loan for the rest of the season, following his £75,000 move to Championship side Birmingham City.
