Former Aston Villa boss Brian Little tasted success in his first match in charge of Jersey with a 2-0 friendly win over the Royal Navy at Springfield.

Ben Gallichan gave the hosts an early lead when he poked the ball past onrushing goalkeeper Matt Shortt.

Luke Campbell doubled the advantage before half time, bundling the ball home from Luke Watson's header.

Little took over last month following Jimmy Reilly's resignation, having been Jersey's director of football.

Earlier, Jersey's women's side had been beaten 2-1 by the Navy's female team.

Katie Shorter's header put the visitors in front before Natalie Bavister beat the offside trap to make it 2-0 on the half hour.

Jersey striker Catarina Andrade nearly pulled one back before the break, rounding the goalkeeper but unable to beat a defender on the line.

Skipper Eve Watson hit the underside of the crossbar early in the second half and then Andrade got her goal soon after, timing her run well and side-footing into the corner.

Both the men and the women were using the games as part of their preparations for the Muratti in May.
