Jake Ash: Truro City captain 'punching walls' to play, says manager Steve Tully

Truro will play their final six league matches in the space of 14 days

Truro City manager Steve Tully says captain Jake Ash has been "punching the walls" to regain his starting place.

The centre-back has not featured since Boxing Day because of injury and illness but will start when Truro host promotion rivals Maidstone on Saturday.

"Jake Ash has been exceptional in the changing room," Tully told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"We haven't got that many experienced players - in big games you need people just to calm things down."

The White Tigers are fourth in National League South and need six points from their final six games to guarantee a play-off spot.

Chairman Peter Masters hopes the Maidstone match will attract a crowd of around 800 at Treyew Road, with Ash replacing the suspended Aaron Pugh.

"He's been punching the walls - he's been really irritable that he hasn't been involved," added Tully.

"We've never done it the easy way since I've been in charge. It's going to go down to the wire, like everything does, but these are the challenges you want to be involved in."
