Wales manager Chris Coleman says it is "good news" so far on Joe Ledley's recovery from a leg fracture.

The midfielder, 29, suffered the injury on 7 May and is in a race to recover in time for Wales' Euro 2016 campaign.

He will travel with Wales' training squad to Portugal this week and Coleman admits Ledley's involvement will be the biggest decision he faces before naming his final 23-man squad on 31 May.

"At the minute he is good, is fine and feels okay," said Coleman.

"I spoke with him the day of the Cup final, had a good chat with him and he feels okay, so that's good news."

"It will be the biggest decision I am going to have to make."

Minor fractures can take up to six weeks to heal, though the recovery time for more severe fibula injuries can be about three months.

"We've just got to look at him and say, is he in a position where he can affect the tournament for us, is he going to have enough time to get to a level of fitness where we can use him when we need him, or is it going to be too early for him," said Coleman, speaking after signing a two-year contract extension.

"It's a big week for Joe and for us because he has been very, very important to us.

"He's played as big a party as anybody in the success we've had.

"I'm hoping and praying he will be okay because he deserves to be there."

Ledley's Palace manager Alan Pardew has not ruled out the former Cardiff player recovering in time for the European Championships.

And Coleman's assistant manager, Osian Roberts, had previously said Wales could take Ledley to Euro 2016 even if it means him missing the early part of the competition.

Wales begin their Euro 2016 finals campaign against Slovakia on Saturday, 11 June before facing England in Lens and Russia in Toulouse in Pool B.

Wales have not won in their three friendly matches since qualifying for the Euro 2016 finals and face Sweden in Stockholm on Sunday, June 5 before their Championship opener in Bordeaux.
