Incoming Truro City manager Lee Hodges says he will be aiming to guide the club to promotion next season.

Hodges, 42, was appointed last week to succeed Steve Tully, who did not have his contract renewed at Treyew Road.

He is taking charge of the club for a second time, having previously been manager between 2010 and 2013.

"My aim is to get promoted, it's as simple as that. It might not be everyone's aim, but I always want to have a right go," he told BBC Sport.

"You've got to aim for those kinds of stuff otherwise why are you in the job?

"You aren't going to go into a job and just say 'let's see if we can avoid relegation' it's not about that, you want to have a right go and see where it takes you."

The former Plymouth Argyle, Torquay and Tottenham Hotspur player has a tough act to follow after Tully led the White Tigers to a best-ever finish of fourth place in the National League South.

"There's always pressure when you go into a manager's job, you always want to achieve the best," added Hodges, who was assistant manager at Torquay United until last summer.

"It's a difficult job to be going into because Steve had done very well, but nothing surprises you in football now."
