Bristol Rovers have confirmed that midfielder Chris Lines has signed a new contract with the club.

Bristol-born Lines, 30, started his career at Rovers, spending seven years with the club before moving to Sheffield Wednesday and then Port Vale.

After returning to Rovers, initially on loan in March 2015, he played 36 times as Rovers won promotion last season.

"Chris has played at a higher level. We're delighted to have him," chairman Steve Hamer told BBC Radio Bristol.

Of Darrell Clarke's first-team squad, 12 players have now signed new deals ahead of the 2016-17 season.
