Lee Tomlin: Bristol City signing did not want to wait for other offers

New Bristol City forward Lee Tomlin has said he chose not to follow advice telling him to wait for other clubs' offers before signing from Bournemouth.

The 27-year-old rejoined the Championship club on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee on Tuesday.

"A lot was happening, the likes of my agent telling me to wait, you could say bigger clubs would come in, in a month's time," said Tomlin.

"I just did not want to wait. This is what I wanted to do and wanted to be."

The former Middlesbrough and Peterborough man made six Premier League appearances for the Cherries and had two years left on his deal before joining the Robins.

"I can't thank the chairman, (chief operating officer) Mark Ashton and the gaffer (Lee Johnson) enough to get it sorted. I'm grateful to them," Tomlin told BBC Radio Bristol.

"I'm buzzing. I'm delighted. I wanted to come back. I knew straight away that the club wanted to do something if they could.

"The chairman (Steve Lansdown) has told me himself that he enjoys watching me play, so that's another massive factor for me coming here."
